The Guiding Principles were developed under the leadership of AWI's Guiding Principles Committee, which was established at the founding meeting of AWI's Board of Directors. They were published on September 25, 2012, the third anniversary of that founding meeting. In March, 2010, the Committee conducted three full-day roundtables, in which 85 of AWI's 100 Charter Members participated, to gather the information which forms the basis of the Guiding Principles. Over the next two and one-half years, the Committee synthesized that information and prepared drafts of the Guiding Principles which were reviewed by the Committee, the Board, and ultimately the entire AWI membership, currently numbering over 350. AWI hopes that the publication of these Guiding Principles will enhance the quality of workplace investigations.
